End of Watch



Carlos Cruz a lifetime member and past National President passed away on August 6, 2016.  Carlos was born in New York City on June 30, 1940.  He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and spent time at various places.  He often talked about his time in Japan.  Upon his release from active duty, he joined the California Highway Patrol.  He was one of the initial members of NLPOA and was the National President twice.  When he retired from the CHP he went back to school and earned a degree in Fashion Design. He had been a tailor in New York City and after graduation, continued his passion in Camarillo California. In 2009 he affiliated with the NLPOA Ventura County Chapter and immediately became involved in all of their activities. He served as the 2nd Vice President for several terms. In 2010 at a chapter function, he met his wife Jackie and they were soon married. Carlos was an avid runner and competed in the California Police and Fire games for many years winning numerous medals.  A memorial scholarship has been established by the NLPOA Ventura County Chapter in honor of Carlos Cruz.

Chuck Arellano NLPOA Member End of Watch 3-22-2016

Dear Members,

Again, it is with great sadness to report yet another senior member of the NLPOA has passed. Chuck Arellano passed away today at his home. He was born 03/23/1955, and retired from the Stockton Police Department in 2006 as a Sr. Sgt. He was a devoted NLPOA member. Chuck is survived by his only daughter Alison Arellano.

She will be contacting me with funeral arrangements in the near future.

Good morning everyone,
I am sure that you are all aware and shocked and saddened as I am about the sudden passing of our good friend Chuck Arellano.  It's a very tough time for our organization, especially since long time member Andy Cruz also passed away recently.

Chuck is survived by his only daughter, Alison Arellano. Please keep Chuck's family in your thoughts and prayers. He will be missed by all of us and his dedication and commitment to the NLPOA-California BOD will be irreplaceable.
Chuck was a mentor to me and possessed the gentlemanly qualities and positivity that I strive to achieve.

Bereavement Notice – Jose Carlos Miramontes

Bereavement Notice – Jose Carlos Miramontes born August 27, 1941 in Azusa California, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 6th, in Chino Hills California, at the age of 74. He is survived by his loving wife Sandra Miramontes.

Jose Carlos Miramontes was dedicated to service. Jose is a former United States Marine, LA County Sheriff Deputy, Group Director, Corporate Security West Region Coca Cola, and Former National President of the National Latino Peace Officers Association (NLPOA).

Information on funeral services will be communicated within the next few days. Our prayers and deepest sympathy go out to him and his family. His presence and contributions to the community and the NLPOA will be missed.
